Ode To Craig T. Nelson

Let me start by saying I have been a fan of Craig T. Nelson's since I was 14 years old. I remember watching him in Poltergeist on HBO and just really enjoying his work. I felt he was as fine of an actor as can be found in Hollywood, and I was a big fan of his throughout the 80s.

Then along came Coach. I cannot help being biased here because Coach is my all time favorite show, ever. Bar none. I think it was the best and greatest sitcom ever. (Everybody Loves Raymond being a close second.) Coach is one of those shows that I can watch over and over and over again. Most of that is due to Nelson, who was incredible as Coach Hayden Fox. Coach also had one of the best supporting casts in the history of television, but Nelson is what propelled the show.

I have always wondered what Craig T. Nelson's politics are. Considering he is a Hollywood actor I didn't have much hope, and I have always given actors like him and Brendan Frasier a ton of credit for staying out of politics, at least publicly. They are entertainers and shouldn't be running around the country stumping for candidates and expounding on social issues.

Then the 1990s and 2000s happened. And every liberal actor and actress (yes I still use the feminine word to describe female actors, sue me) came out of the woodwork to endorse Clinton, Gore, Kerry, and Obama. You couldn't go a day without a liberal actor bashing a conservative politician. Or bad mouthing our country. Or disparaging our troops. Or bashing big business, espousing big government, or endorsing the murdering of innocent, unborn humans. And, of course, bashing the 2nd amendment.

So now when an actor or actress comes out and espouses conservative ideals I stand and applaud. After all I like to be entertained, and I like to think some of the people that entertain me are like-minded with my thinking. It isn't a necessity as I still am a fan of Billy Joel (a Democratic atheist) and John Cusack (a liberal Democrat). So it was so refreshing to come across this at one of my favorite blogs, Big Hollywood.

Preach on Coach, errr, Mr. Nelson. Seriously, this guy is well-spoken, and funny, and he is right on with these issues.

Now the Coach theme song (fictional Minnesota State fight song) will be stuck in my head all day!

Got To Love Biden

For all of the criticism I dish out on the Obama administration, there is one thing I can't criticize. That is his choice for Vice President. It was almost as if it was Christmas and Obama was in a giving spirit. So he wrapped Joe Biden up and presented him to all of us on the right as one of the best gifts he could ever give us.

Biden has provided endless fodder for conservatives, and continues on a weekly basis to offer up gems in the way of gaffes.

But this may be the best one yet:

Biden jokes about Obama's teleprompter

This is great! Biden says:

"What am I going to tell the President when I tell him his teleprompter is broken? What will he do then?"

Thank Obama for giving us Joe Biden!

Official White House Position On Sotomayor Appointment: Don't Tell The Truth

This White House is at it again. In response to a very astute comment by Newt Gingrinch, the White House has basically said that telling the truth about this woman will not be tolerated.

Here is what Newt said:

"A white man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw. A Latina woman racist should also withdraw."

As was published here, as well in varied other places, Sotomayor is on record with her racism. So what Newt is saying is the absolute truth. If a white male racist were appointed he'd already have been forced to withdraw his name. Shouldn't the same fate await Sotomayor?

Note the official White House response to Newt:

"I think it is probably important for anybody involved in this debate to be exceedingly careful with the way in which they’ve decided to describe different aspects of this impending confirmation,” Gibbs said.

Gibbs, of course, is the adolescent (in maturity) schoolboy (also in maturity) turned White House Press Secretary. As such he speaks for the White House and the Obama administration.

So it appears their official response to accusations that Sotomayor is a racist is: "You better not tell the truth about this woman's racism because we don't like when you do!"

Isn't it wonderful having these bozos run our country?

Obama Appoints A Racist

You might think that is a strong accusation. But here is Ms. Sotomayor's own words:

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.

Don't think that is racist? Imagine if she had said the same thing about a black male. She'd be ostracized as a racist. Seems to me that a racist statement is a racist statement regardless of the race targeted. Then again, white males are an unprotected class.

A Judge's View Of Judging Is On The Record

The Mean Parents

My wife and I get accused of being mean parents all the time. Relatives, friends, and casual acquaintances all accuse us of being too hard on our 5 year-old daughter. Apparently any of the following on this list will qualify you as a mean parent:

A) Making your child behave in a respectful manner in public.
B) Making your child behave appropriately during church services.
C) Not letting your child run around indoors (in any building) like a wild animal.
D) Making your child eat a well-balanced diet.
E) Punishing your child for breaking rules.

It is annoying in today's world that you are caught between a rock and a hard place. If you don't discipline your kid then people point and whisper and talk about what crappy parents you are. If you do discipline your kid then people point and whisper and talk about what crappy parents you are.

I have a goal. I want my daughter to grow up to be a well-mannered, properly-behaved young woman. I want her to be happy, healthy and well adjusted. The list above I believe will get her there. It will teach her that there is a time to play, and a time to work. A time to talk, and a time to be quiet. It will teach her that there are consequences for the choices she makes. It will teach her that worshiping God is to be kept in reverence and to not be taken lightly.

It will also teach her healthy eating habits. I really don't understand why people, especially other parents, object to D. I see obese kids all the time that will only eat McDonalds or other fattening food. Try to get them to eat peas or carrots and they scream and flatly refuse. I am also stunned at the number of adults I meet that are incredibly picky eaters, or won't eat fruits and vegetables. Our society is full of overweight, unhealthy adults because they won't eat healthy foods. And they are literally killing their kids by instilling the same "if you don't love it then don't eat it" mentality.

So while my wife and I are branded as mean parents, I think in the long run that my daughter, and ourselves, will be better off for it.

Open Letter To Colin Powell

Dear Colin,

Go away. And take Tom Ridge with you.

You say you are still a Republican, but your recent turn to the left is the opposite of what the Republican party needs. The Republican party left their base in the dust in panic over the 2006 elections. That didn't sit well with those of us that are conservatives.

You are angry with conservatives. You call out Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney. Yet they are what the Republican party needs. Not you and your ilk. You need to either pull a Benedict Arlen Specter and become a Democrat, or quietly go away in the night and enjoy retirement. Heck, if you choose the former I am sure the anointed one Obama would gladly give you a position in his evil administration.

Or maybe not. See Colin, you are becoming a man without a country. You've alienated conservative Republicans. Democrats don't trust you. I guess you could go third party if you want.

In closing, and I say this with all the respect I can muster, please shut-up.

P.S. Now you can go back to your regularly scheduled hero worship of Obama.

They Found The Missing Link? Well, No, Not Really.

The science world was all a buzz this morning at the announcement that they had found the missing link. Here is the story:

Click here: Scientists Unveil Missing Link In Evolution

The devil (pun intended) is in the details, of course. Note:

During that period, the first whales, horses, bats and monkeys emerged, and the early primates branched into two groups - one group lived on mainly as lemurs, and the second developed into monkeys, apes and humans.

Wait, I thought the missing link was a half-man, half-ape that would prove we evolved from apes? The old bait-and-switch. Supposedly we have never found a transitional species before. I guess they forgot about the duck-billed platypus!

Seriously, this is as disingenuous as it gets. This discovery is not a transitional species, this discovery is a new species. It happens all the time. Scientists without an agenda would have concluded that it was a new species.

And I love how they state theories in this article as fact. "During that period, the first whales, horses, bats and monkeys emerged, and the early primates branched into two groups..." Nice theory, but that is all it is. No one knows for sure, but they want to so badly that they pretend to.

If they really want to find the missing link they should study Ben Stiller.

The Slippery Slope Of Abortion Coming to Fruition

Sad story out of Sweden. Click here for story: Sweden Approves Gender-Based Abortions

This is exactly what religious conservatives have been warning about for years. What's next? Hair or eye color-based abortions? Handedness-based abortions? Bad teeth-based abortions?

Folks, this is extremely unfortunate. Admittedly, Sweden is about as secular of a society as you can get, but the U.S. is only a few years behind them.

The Party Of The Poor?

This is from Our Country Deserves Better.

On May 26th, Barack Obama will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to hold a multi-million dollar fundraiser to help save Democrat Senate Leader, Harry Reid, from defeat in the upcoming congressional elections. We've obtained copies of these liberal elitist fundraising invitations and pasted them in below.

Good thing the Democrats are there to fight against the wealthy and stand up for the poor. Give me a break.

When Racism Is Acceptable

I want you to play make believe with me for a moment. Let's pretend that Rush Limbaugh wrote a poem honoring his favorite performer of all time. And in that poem, which he recorded himself reading, he wrote (and then read) the n-word. You know what word I am referring to. The word that is spoken by black Americans constantly, but if a white person says it they will be labeled, ostracized, and in certain circumstances, done bodily harm.

That is unless the white person is a liberal. You see, the above did happen, it just wasn't Rush Limbaugh that said the word. It was Bono from U2. He wrote a poem honoring Elvis Presley, whom he apparently had a giant man crush on, and in it he refers to Elvis as a "white -n-word-".

Click here for the story: Bono Elvis Tribute Poem "American David"

Where is the outrage? Where is Spike Lee threatening to beat up Bono? (Could there be a less threatening threat in the world?) Where is Whoopy and Scary Sherry from The View telling Bono "we don't want to hear that word from your mouth"? Where is the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton staging protests at U2 concerts, and marching on Washington (even though Bono is Irish) to show their disapproval? Where is Janeane Garofalo calling Bono a racist Irish redneck?

Oh wait, Bono is a liberal. So he gets a free pass. Rush Limbaugh would have to go into hiding in the same circumstances. Don't you love the American society that has developed right under our noses?

Brother Kyle Butt Debates Atheist at University of South Carolina

This is excellent and needs to be shared. Please pass the link to this video on to everyone you know.

Click here: Video of Kyle Butt Debate

(Click on the video "Does The God Of The Bible Exist?" on the right hand side.)

Also, see more of Kyle's work at: Apologetics Press

I have debated atheists myself, admittedly on a much more personal, informal level. What amazes me is that they all end up taking the same track: belittling Christians for claiming the moral high ground while at the same time claiming the intellectual high ground themselves. Pretty hypocritical.

Very telling statement by Mr. Barker was when he said that he will tell God (on the day of judgment) that He should bow down and worship him (Mr. Barker). Atheists put themselves on the same level as God. They try to confine Him to what we as humans know and feel. For example, he said that God supposedly knows the future, yet says He gave us freedom of choice. Mr. Barker felt that was an incapability. But in reality there is no future to God. There is no past. Time is a dimension of this world, not the spiritual world. If Mr. Barker were truly on God's level, as he tries to claim, he would know that.

Good debate. Brother Butt did an outstanding job, and I felt he had Mr. Barker on the defensive the entire time.

One other observation. I love how Mr. Barker suggested that it was unloving of a Christian to call him "Mr. Barfer" (apparently some blogger referred to him as such), yet he called Christians, and all people that claim faith in a religion, stupid for nearly 2 hours! More hypocrisy from his side of the aisle.

Social Security, Medicare, Socialized Medicine And You!

In case you missed it, Social Security and Medicare are going bankrupt faster than originally thought.

Click here for the story: Social Security And Medicare Going Broke Faster

So what does this mean for us? Well it should mean that these two programs are closely examined and phased out over the next few years/decades to minimize the impact of their insolvency. Unfortunately, logical thinking isn't abundant in Washington. So of course they are looking at ways to "raise tax revenue".

Conservatives know that the way you do that is by getting government out of the way, letting the economy heat up, and then revenues increase as a result of the new wealth that is created. Unfortunately, Obama and company are not conservatives. So their first response is to tax and spend their way out the problem.

For instance, there is talk in Washington of taxing employer provided medical benefits. This is not a new issue as it came up during last year's election campaign. In fact, Obama derided McCain over it, whom they positioned as wanting to tax those benefits. It will be interesting to keep an eye on Obama and see if he flip-flops on the issue.

There is also talk of raising Social Security taxes to 14.5%. This would impact employers as well as employees since employers pay a portion of that tax. Not really a good idea when an estimated 15 people are already losing their jobs every minute in this country.

Then there is Obama. When he wants money he eyes the wealthy. He is talking about raising the Social Security cap. In 2009 that cap is already increasing to $106,800. Who knows what it will be if Obama gets a hold of it.

There are further rumblings that Obama is looking at other ways to take wealth away from individuals to fund his radical plans. With Obama it always seems to come back to class warfare: fire up the middle class and poor against the wealthy.

Now, wouldn't you think that this news about the government being so terrible at running Social Security and Medicare would kill any discussion of socializing health care? After all, if they can't properly manage those programs, how is adding another social program going to help? Remember what was said earlier: we aren't dealing with people that think logically.

Many commentators think just the opposite will happen. That Obama and company will now use the insolvency of Medicare as an excuse to push through socialized medicine. They'll work the middle class and poor into a frenzy on the issue and those people will be disillusioned into clamoring for socialized medicine. May heaven help your bank account if that happens.

The problem with all of these social programs is that once you have them they are almost impossible to get rid of. As time passes, they become ingrained into the fabric of our society and people just accept them as reality. FDR never envisioned public Social Security existing in its current form for as long as it has. But since it is all people today have ever known, even normally right-thinking people become uneasy about getting rid of it.

Medicare is the same way. Talk about doing away with it and people, even some proclaimed conservatives, start asking: what will happen to people 65 and older? The answer lies in a number of areas, but as long as the government is there taking care of it no one will be motivated to explore those answers.

And as the mentality that the government is taking care of that, whether it be Social Security, Medicare, or socialized medicine, becomes the norm, then it becomes nearly impossible to get movement to phase-out and replace a social program.

The result is that 80 years later the program is still there no matter how deficient, and any discussion of doing away with it is met with ridicule.

Welcome to the U.S.S.A.

Cheer, Cheer For Old Notre Dame

Okay, not for the school, but cheer, cheer for some Notre Dame seniors that are just saying no! No to Obama that is.

Click here for story: Some Notre Dame Seniors To Skip Commencement

Notre Dame officials insist on having Obama there for the commencement address despite the outcry against his appearance. Protests, students skipping, and Catholics around the country being upset do not seem to matter to the school. They are marching forward with their plan regardless of how many it upsets.

Of course, the teleprompter will be there!

If Reagan Could Debate Obama

Ronald Reagan would call Obama a socialist. Plain and simple. Here is a video made up of some sound bites that show Reagan knew what would result if someone like Obama ever came to power:

If this isn't a scary wake up call to the American people then nothing is. People voted for this guy on false hope, and by being tricked into believing in evil designs camouflaged as "change". He is now showing his true colors and I am not sure we can survive the next 3 1/2 years moving in this direction.

May God help us all.

The Environwhackos Next Exploit: War On The Bathroom

About a year ago there were stories that broke about how toilet paper was an evil that we had to be rid of. Sheryl Crow, singer and environwhacko even suggested limiting yourself to one square per usage. Remind me never to shake her hand.

(Don't believe me about Crow, here is the story: Sheryl Crow Says To Limit TP Usage)

Last month they staged a national Pee Outside Day. Here are the details: National Pee Outside Day, April 19th

To me it is obvious, the next exploit of these whackos is to go to war against the bathroom. It is intolerable to me. I could stand it (barely) when they insisted we recycle certain items. I could even tolerate (barely) when family members started to forward to me stupid "save the whale" emails. But you mess with a man's toilet paper, and, well, everyone has a breaking point.

I say not less but more toilet paper. I don't care if it is made of recycled materials or not. If it is on the roll, and I need it, I will take as much as I need. And yes, I prefer the super-soft, 4 ply kind over the cheaper, sandpaper-like, 2 ply kind.

So once again I am a bad steward because I enjoy one of life's simple pleasures: comfort in the commode. So sue me.

Oh, and if you practice what Sheryl Crow preaches then please wash your hands thoroughly. It will be the best waste of water in the history of mankind.

Shock! Pelosi Is A Liar. She Knew About Enhanced Interrogations

Pelosi was briefed on interrogation tactics

Why should we be surprised? My guess is all the Democrats knew. That way they could enjoy the benefits of the safety such tactics provided, and still feign outrage over it later.

Of course, Obama will now make the world safer for terrorists while at the same time making the world more dangerous for U.S. citizens.

Thanks for electing this idiot.

Oklahoma! And Colin Needs An Oscopy

After Texas talked the talk, Oklahoma is walking the walk.

Click here for story: Oklahoma Passes Sovereignty Bill

This is very interesting to me. It shows that a large segment of our population is starting to feel out of touch with the fools in Washington. As Obama continues to take the nation down a path many of us do not want to go, more and more people are finding ways to express their frustrations.

A perfect example of how out of touch liberals and Democrats have become is Colin Powell. How far and fast this man has fallen. He is in serious need of an enema. (Sorry, I can't help myself with the Colin/colon jokes!)

Click here for story: Colin Powell: Republicans in deep trouble.....

Read this part especially:

"The Republican Party is in deep trouble," said Colin Powell, former secretary of state for one Republican president and chairman of the joint chiefs of staff for another, speaking this week at a conference in Washington sponsored by Fortify Software Inc. The party has to reconcile with the fact that the mood of the voters has changed, he said: "Americans do want to pay taxes for services... Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less."

So Powell thinks we want bigger government not smaller government? How out of touch is this thinking? Well, here are some interesting poll numbers:

Click here for story: Big Government Biggest Threat

A USA Today/Gallup poll found that 55 percent of Americans say that 'big government' will be the biggest threat to the country in the future.

So Colin appears to be speaking out of his, well, colon. (Sorry, I told you I can't help it!)

With opinions of people like Obama and Colin running counter to the opinions of the American public, you will see more actions like we are seeing in Oklahoma, and hearing more rhetoric like we heard out of Texas. People are getting fed up and they aren't going to take it anymore. That is what the tax day tea parties were all about.

To Powell, and "Republicans" of his ilk, I'd like to echo what Rush Limbaugh said yesterday: take a cue from Benedict Arlen Specter and become a Democrat.

The Hand Of A Fetus

A while back I posted this picture:

Today on they have an update on this fetus, now a nine year-old boy. See what he looks like by clicking here: Samuel Armas & Family

Amazing stuff. This is an argument for life without having to say anything!

I Threw Tea Into The Harbor Last Night

Okay, not literally, but it felt good to vote against 4 property tax "renewals" in our township last night.

I quoted "renewals" because that was how they were positioning them. But if you read the proposals you would discover the words "renew and increase" in the language. Everyone is having to do more with less, or at least more with the same, why shouldn't local government?

Here is an article on the results: Township Passes All 4 Milleage "Renewals" They all passed, but at least I did my part to vote them down.

The reason I believe they passed is because the only advertising I saw were yard signs saying to vote "Yes". Also, articles like this: 4 Proposals On Local Ballot scared people into voting yes. If you tell people "you better vote yes on these if you want police and fire protection, or trash pick-up", then most will be too afraid to vote no.

Here is the interesting part of that last article:

"Roe said the township has pledged not to raise the overall township millage above 10.4 mills through 2012, the same amount it was in 2005."

Pledged? Is that like a promise? Also notice this part:

"Thanks to the Headlee Amendment, which can lower tax rates depending on property value increases and the rate of inflation, the four millages on the ballot have dropped a total of 0.0226 mills since 2005. Renewing them at their 2005 levels will also restore that amount. For the owner of a home with a taxable value of $100,000, that means $2.23 a year more than now."

Ahhh, so they are using the word "renewal" when they actually mean "increase". Lying snakes! And people fall for this stuff and vote out of fear. That is how taxes get increased, and idiots like Obama get elected.

So while I lost the war, I felt personal satisfaction in throwing some tea into the harbor. And I also take satisfaction in knowing that my wife and I were more informed on the issue than the other 3,191 people that voted.

Still Don't Believe The Media Is Biased?

Then explain this video:

Absolutely disgusting. Oh and Mark Knoller of CBS tried to explain it away:

Click here: Mark Knoller: Explaining Why Reporters Stood For Obama

I like this part:

"When some reporters stood up for President Obama last Friday, they forgot about the needs of their colleagues in the back of the room as well as the less formal atmosphere of the briefing room. Certainly it was a sign of respect for the president, but not one of disrespect for his predecessor.

It was President Obama’s first time at the briefing room lectern since taking office and for some new members of the White House Press, it was their first time seeing a president enter the room as well."

Nice try Mr. Knoller. This is typical of the mainstream media these days. They make statements about Obama giving them chills up their legs, standing when they didn't for George W. Bush, and generally fawning over Obama, then give us lame excuses and reasons as to why.

Mr. Knoller should be ashamed of himself for this ridiculous excuse. A simple "I am sorry for the behavior of my colleagues" would have been better. Then again, he saw what happened to Bernard Goldberg for blowing the lid off of bias at CBS. Not only are the press in the tank for Obama and the Democrats, but they'll viciously eat their own if one of them has the audacity to point out the blatant bias.

It makes me viscerally ill.

Further Proof That Arlen Specter Is An Idiot

Click here for story: Specter: Kemp Died Of GOP Agenda

Unbelievable. I guess we shouldn't be surprised that someone this ridiculous became a Democrat. But to suggest that Jack Kemp would be alive today if Republicans had pushed for more medical research spending is preposterous. Further he is giving a pass to the Democrats, who have controlled Congress and the White House much of the time, and even sometimes at the same time, since 1970.

To borrow a phrase from nanc, one of my favorite bloggers (See her blog here: Oh Boo Moments):

Oh boo!
